England manager Gareth Southgate is facing some tough decisions ahead of the final group match against Slovenia on Tuesday. The team’s performance in the 1-1 draw with Denmark was criticized, particularly Trent Alexander-Arnold’s experiment in midfield. This could lead to changes in the midfield lineup, with Conor Gallagher, Kobbie Mainoo, or Adam Wharton potentially stepping in.

Kieran Trippier, who has been playing at left-back in place of the injured Luke Shaw, has played more than initially expected due to Shaw’s absence. Trippier was seen drinking pickle juice during a match to help with cramps, and there were hopes that Shaw would recover in time to play. However, Shaw has not been training with the team recently, but he was back on the pitch on Monday.

If Trippier is rested for the final group game, it’s possible that Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa could take his place. Joe Gomez is another option, having played at left-back for Liverpool and England in the lead-up to the tournament. Southgate is looking to improve control in matches and make strategic adjustments to boost team performance.
