According to SPORT, FC Barcelona is on the verge of losing one of its first-team stars from last season. Joao Felix, who joined the team last year along with Joao Cancelo, is reportedly close to leaving the club. The duo’s loan deals expired on June 30, 2024, and there were hopes that they could continue at Barca under Hansi Flick. However, recent reports indicate that obstacles have arisen in their potential return.

Sources claim that Manchester City prefers to sell Cancelo rather than agreeing to another loan deal with Barcelona. Meanwhile, Benfica is negotiating with Atletico Madrid for Felix’s return to his boyhood club in Portugal. It is reported that Benfica is close to reaching an agreement with Atleti for 50% of Felix’s rights, making him their most expensive signing in history.

Barcelona has not considered making a bid for Felix, according to reports. Mendes, Felix’s agent, informed Barca’s Sporting Director Deco of the ongoing negotiations, but the club has made it clear that they are not in a position to make an offer. As a result, Barca is likely to lose out on Felix, opening up opportunities for other players on the team.

If Felix leaves, it could mean more playing time for players like Raphinha, who could secure a permanent spot on the left wing, while Lamine Yamal occupies the right flank. The situation regarding Felix’s potential departure is still developing, but it seems increasingly likely that he will not be returning to Barcelona next season.
