Sampdoria sporting director Pietro Accardi recently met with Inter Milan officials to discuss the potential transfer of young defender Giovanni Leoni, who has been attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Leoni, who is only 17 years old, joined Sampdoria on loan from Padova during the winter transfer window and the club has since exercised their option to sign him permanently.
With interest from multiple clubs across Europe, Sampdoria is now considering cashing in on Leoni. While Tottenham has been monitoring the defender, Inter Milan is reportedly making a strong push to secure his signature. According to reports from Tutto Mercato, Accardi visited Inter’s headquarters to engage in discussions about a potential deal for Leoni, with the Nerazzurri looking to get ahead in the race for his signature.
Napoli is also in the mix, competing to land the young defender in the current transfer window. Despite Sampdoria’s willingness to sell Leoni, they are open to the idea of him returning on loan for another season. As negotiations continue, it remains to be seen which club will ultimately secure the talented centre-back.
