Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr recently identified ten potential first-time Pro Bowlers for the 2024 season. Among the players listed was Giants franchise left tackle Andrew Thomas. Orr noted that it is uncommon for a standout left tackle in a major market who has received second-team All-Pro honors to not have a Pro Bowl selection to his name.
Thomas was limited to 10 games last season due to a hamstring injury suffered in the season opener. However, once he returned to the field, the 6-foot-5 tackle showcased his dominance by allowing just four sacks and 17 total pressures on 376 pass-blocking snaps. His performance earned him the 10th-highest pass block grade among all offensive tackles in 2023 according to Pro Football Focus.
The fourth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Thomas has started 54 of the 55 games he has played in his first four seasons in the league. After showing improvement in 2021, he took a significant step forward in his development during the 2022 campaign. Thomas surrendered three sacks and 21 pressures on 619 pass-blocking snaps, leading to his selection as second-team All-Pro. He was also named to PFF’s list of the top 25 players under 25, ranking at No. 10.
Orr’s list of potential first-time Pro Bowlers in 2024 also included LB Frankie Luvu of the Washington Commanders, TE Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals, LB Devin Lloyd of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Edge Alex Highsmith of the Pittsburgh Steelers, CB Christian Benford of the Buffalo Bills, DT Alim McNeil of the Detroit Lions, RB De’Von Achane of the Miami Dolphins, Edge Jonathan Greenard of the Minnesota Vikings, and QB Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans.
