Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting local merchants and keeping small businesses running. This year, St. Clairsville’s downtown shops will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving shoppers the opportunity to start their holiday shopping as the Christmas season approaches.
The event aims to encourage people to purchase from local merchants rather than big box stores or online retailers like Amazon. Kathy Wood, a vendor at the Melting Pot Marketplace, expressed that it can be challenging for small businesses, especially in a small town, as many people are accustomed to shopping at larger retailers.
Despite the challenges, the Melting Pot Marketplace and other downtown shops are excited to participate in Small Business Saturday and are looking forward to an eventful weekend with the community’s support. It’s an opportunity for shoppers to make a positive impact by supporting local businesses and contributing to the vitality of their community.
