Atrium Health Stanly is starting new security measures in order to protect the safety of patients, visitors, and employees. Starting on Monday, all patients and visitors will need to enter the hospital through one of three entrances: the Surgery Center, Bivens Outpatient Center, and the emergency department. Each entrance will have security screening with a metal detector, requiring a valid ID and stating the purpose of the visit. Those who refuse to comply will not be allowed access. Patients will continue to experience the same security protocols as usual.

Brian Freeman, facility executive at Atrium Health Stanly, emphasized the importance of providing a safe environment for everyone at the hospital. He mentioned that these changes may take some time to get used to, but the community’s understanding and cooperation are appreciated. Kate Gaier, Atrium Health Senior Manager for Media Relations, also shared updates on the hospital’s events center, stating that visitors will be able to attend meetings and events as usual.

The events center is a secured area, and recent security improvements restrict visitors from accessing other areas of the hospital while attending an event. Atrium Health is continuously monitoring safety and security protocols to ensure the protection of everyone inside the buildings. Gaier mentioned the implementation of increased security measures across the health care system, including at Atrium Health Stanly, to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, and teammates.Feedback from the community helps them provide the safest environment possible so patients can focus on being healthy.
