The fellowship will run from mid-July 2024 to mid-July 2025 and will be based at STAT’s Boston office. The selected fellow will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced science and health reporters and editors to report and write articles for STAT.

In addition to gaining valuable experience and mentorship, the fellow will be compensated with a salary of $75,000, health insurance, 10 days of vacation, and standard holidays off. This fellowship is a great opportunity for aspiring science journalists to further their careers and make a meaningful impact in the field.

The fellowship is named in honor of Sharon Begley, an esteemed science writer for STAT, who passed away in January 2021 at the age of 64. Her legacy lives on through this fellowship, which aims to continue her work and support future generations of science journalists.
