Stockport County has secured the signing of goalkeeper Corey Addai from Crawley Town on a three-year deal, with the transfer fee undisclosed. Addai, who is 26 years old, played a crucial role in helping Crawley Town win promotion by winning the play-off final against Crewe Alexandra at Wembley. He began his career as a youth player at Arsenal before moving on to Coventry City, where he went out on loan and later spent time at Barnsley and Danish club Esbjerg. Addai joined Crawley in 2022 and became their first-choice goalkeeper, making 45 appearances in all competitions last season.

With 179 saves to his name, Addai led League Two in saves last season. His arrival at Stockport County will provide healthy competition for the current player of the season Ben Hinchliffe. In addition to signing Addai, Stockport County has also brought in 20-year-old goalkeeper Max Metcalfe as a “development keeper.”

Director of football Simon Wilson expressed his excitement about the signing of Addai, stating that the club aimed to strengthen the goalkeeping department for the long term. At 6ft 8in, Addai brings a unique profile to the team, and at 26 years old, he is just beginning to show his potential. Stockport County hopes to help Addai realize his full potential during his time at the club over the next three years.
