Following reports that Caitlin Clark was not selected for the USA women’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Indiana Fever claimed that the snub “woke a monster.” Despite this, Clark’s performance in Monday night’s game against the Connecticut Sun did not reflect this sentiment. The Sun, coming off their first loss of the season, dominated the Fever with a score of 89-72.

In her previous game, Clark had a standout performance, scoring 30 points and hitting seven three-pointers. However, she struggled against the Sun, finishing with only 10 points on 3-for-8 shooting before fouling out in the third quarter. The Fever’s leading scorer was DiJonai Carrington, who recorded 22 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Alyssa Thomas, who is set to join the USA Olympic team, also had a strong showing with 18 rebounds and seven assists. DeWanna Bonner contributed 17 points and moved into 10th place on the WNBA’s all-time three-point list. The Sun improved to 10-1 for the season.

On the other side, the Fever were led by Aliyah Boston’s 14 points and 12 rebounds. Lexie Hull and Kelsey Mitchell each scored 10 points, while Erica Wheeler added nine points. With this loss, the Fever’s record dropped to 3-10 for the season.

The Sun will face the Chicago Sky next, while the Fever will host the Atlanta Dream in their upcoming game. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
