Sunil Gavaskar Picks India’s Standout T20 World Cup Performer, Jasprit Bumrah Overlooked

Sunil Gavaskar praised India captain Rohit Sharma for leading the team to a T20 World Cup title, making him only the third Indian captain to achieve this feat after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni. Rohit also performed well with the bat, scoring 257 runs in eight matches at an average of 36.71. While Virat Kohli was named ‘Player of the Match’ in the final, Jasprit Bumrah won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award for his exceptional bowling performance, taking 15 wickets, including two in the final.

Gavaskar highlighted Rohit’s captaincy skills as the standout performance of the tournament, noting that his body language never wavered even during tense situations. He praised Rohit for handling tough situations with confidence and composure, making his captaincy admirable. Gavaskar mentioned that while Bumrah deserved recognition for his exceptional performance, Rohit’s leadership was the highlight for him.

During the celebration event at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rohit dedicated the trophy to the entire nation and thanked the fans for their unwavering support. He expressed happiness and relief at winning the championship and appreciated the reception they received in Mumbai. Rohit emphasized the importance of the fans in their victory and expressed gratitude on behalf of the team.
