The Monster Energy Supercross series will continue to race with a purpose in 2024, as they recently announced three themed nights for the season. The Pro Motocross series celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and now it is Supercross’ turn, providing an extra theme night to the program. Supercross held their first race in 1974 at the Los Angeles Coliseum and now the series is back with a full slate of races. Last year, Jett Lawrence clinched the 2023 SuperMotocross title by sweeping the motos at the age of 20.
Round 3 will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Supercross with teams switching to throwback designs and livery. Military Appreciation Night will be held in Arlington, Texas during Round 7, with riders and teams encouraged to sport graphics and livery inspired by the men and women who have served in the military. Round 14 at Nissan Stadium will be devoted to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as it has been since 2019. This will be a home race for the charity partner of Supercross as they are located in Memphis, Tennessee. The children’s hospital has been a partner with Supercross for the past eight years.
This round will be themed with the Love Moto Stop Cancer program. Bikes in this race will be adorned with artwork from children at the hospital. After the race, many of the items are auctioned off, with St Jude raising $130,000 in 2023 from this initiative. The yearlong text-to-donate campaign supporting St. Jude launches in Round 2 in San Francisco.
The Supercross announcements are part of a larger slate of news from the racing world. Nitrocross announced their 2024-2025 calendar, World of Outlaws added another six-figure race in 2024, and High Limit Racing went national in 2024. American Flat Track and MotoAmerica also announced their 2024 schedules, and Supercross tickets for 2024 are now on sale. MotoGP has also released their provisional 2024 schedule, and Supercross has adjusted its start times for 2024 for more primetime viewing. Additionally, two new markets will highlight the 2024 SuperMotocross schedule.
