Children’s Health in Dallas celebrated its annual “Cape Day” as part of National Superhero Day by giving each patient their own cape. Miguel Solis’s daughter Olivia received a heart transplant at three months old and now uses her superpower of courage every day. Solis explained that Olivia chose courage as her superpower because her story is filled with it.
Olivia spent the day with superheroes like Batman and Ironman, participating in activities like cookie decorating and painting. Her favorite part of Cape Day was spending time with her friend Amelia, who also received treatment at Children’s Health. Olivia said, “Amelia and I are superheroes because of our powers!” The goal of the day was to recognize the strength and bravery of each child and family who are treated at Children’s Health Hospital.
Nicole Nielsen, who joined the CBS 11 news team in June 2020, reported on the event. Born and raised in Keller, Nicole is a North Texas native who is excited to work for the station she grew up watching.
