A commercial fire caused significant damage to local businesses in Sydney on Wednesday night, resulting in an estimated $150,000 worth of destruction. The incident occurred at 1200 blocks of Wapakoneta Avenue, and the Sydney Fire Department was alerted to the fire alarm at 8:38 pm.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that local company Elsner Paintings, which occupied the space, was on fire. The attack on the fire was supported by Rockington Fire, Anna Fire, and Piqua Fire. The first responders broke into the building through the front door and launched an internal fire attack, using aerial equipment to access the attic space of the building.
To secure public facilities, AES and Center Point were called, and emergency workers were provided with canteen service from the Salvation Army. After the firefighters extinguished the fire, they evaluated the damage, which was assessed to be $175,000. Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters sustained injuries resulting from the fire.
Currently, the Fire Investigation Team of the Sydney Fire Department has initiated investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
