Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Shatters 400m Hurdles World Record at Olympic Trials

One of the stars of track and field, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, made history on Sunday by setting a world record in the 400-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic time trials with a time of 50.65 seconds. This achievement has earned her a spot to compete in the 400-meter hurdles once again in Paris after her successful run at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo where she won gold in the event and helped the United States secure gold in the 4×400-meter relay.

McLaughlin-Levrone has broken her own world record in the 400-meter hurdles, making this the fifth world record she has broken in the past three years. She was also the first woman to break the 52- and 51-second marks in this event, solidifying her incredible skills and dominance in the sport.

Joining McLaughlin-Levrone in representing the United States in the 400-meter hurdles will be Anna Cockrell and Jasmine Jones, who finished in second and third place, respectively, at the time trials. Cockrell recorded a personal best with a time of 52.64, showing the depth of talent in American track and field.

Having already competed in two Olympics, McLaughlin-Levrone will be heading to Paris for her third appearance.
