In his career, Virat Kohli played 125 T20I matches, scoring 4188 runs with an impressive average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04. He holds the title of being the second-highest scorer in the T20I format. Kohli made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2010 and quickly became the fastest player to reach 3500 runs in T20Is, achieving this milestone in just 96 innings.

As a former captain across formats for Team India, Kohli also dominated the run scorers’ charts in T20 World Cups with 1292 runs in 35 matches. He is the only player to have been the highest run scorer in two different T20 World Cup editions. His exceptional performances include scoring 319 runs in the 2014 World Cup in Bangladesh and 296 runs in the 2022 edition in Australia, with his 2014 run tally being the highest for any batsman in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Kohli was also honored with a place in the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Decade from 2011 to 2020. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma, with 4231 runs in 159 matches, is the only player to have accumulated more T20I runs than Kohli. Rohit, who debuted in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007 and played a key role in India’s victory under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, also captained the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup, leading from the front and finishing as the highest run-scorer for his team with 257 runs.

Rohit Sharma, known as the Hitman, has also achieved the feat of scoring five T20I hundreds, sharing the title with Australia’s Glenn Maxwell. As captain of the Indian T20 team, Rohit led in 62 matches, winning 49 and losing just 12. Kohli, on the other hand, captained in 50 matches, securing victory in 30 games while facing defeat in 16.

After his 50th win as Indian T20 captain in the T20 World Cup final, Rohit Sharma announced that it would be his last game in the format, expressing his love for T20 cricket and his desire to win the World Cup. He reflected on his career and memorable moments, emphasizing the importance of his journey in T20 cricket for India.
