Taylor Swift is currently on the European leg of her worldwide Eras Tour, which has been going on for over a year. According to a study conducted by Barclays bank, this tour is expected to boost the UK economy by nearly £1 billion ($1.3 billion) as fans spend money to see the US music star perform.

The study titled “Swiftonomics” estimates that around 1.2 million fans will spend an average of £848 on tickets, travel, accommodation, and merchandise to attend one of Taylor Swift’s 15 summer dates in the UK. This amount is significantly higher than what an individual would typically spend on a night out in the country.

Barclays’ behavioral scientist, Peter Brooks, noted that when it comes to cultural icons like Taylor Swift, fans have a strong connection to the artist, driving their desire to spend money on experiences related to the performer. Swift has already played to sold-out arenas across North and South America and Asia before heading to the UK.

During her time in the UK, Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform at various sporting arenas in cities like Cardiff, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and London. By the end of 2023, her tour had already surpassed $1 billion in ticket sales, making it the first tour to achieve this milestone. The tour is expected to double this amount by the end of this year.
