The Holidaysburg Area High School boys tennis team recently won the Districts 4-6 Class 3A tennis championship. The team defeated State College, the top-seeded school, 3-1, on their home court. The coach, Brian Dennis, expressed his excitement about the win and acknowledged the significance of playing against a school with such a rich tradition of men’s tennis. The team’s four seniors contributed to all three wins of the day, and Dennis acknowledged their growth and development throughout their time on the team.

The team’s victory was the result of a strong effort from all the players. After losing 0-6, 2-6, the team won the first place singles, and senior Judd Younes won 6-2, 6-2 in the third place singles. Seniors Hadi Obaid and Colin Egel clinched the first doubles victory over State University’s Peter Novikov and William Liu 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. Dennis praised the team’s passion and dedication, which he believes contributed to their success.

In addition to Holidaysburg’s win, Westmont Hilltop beat Juniata 3-2 to clinch the District 6 Class 2A team title. Overall, the team’s effort and commitment to the sport helped them achieve their goal of winning the championship.

The team’s record is 19-1, while State College’s record is 15-2. This win was a great achievement for the team, and the coach hopes that the players will always recognize what they have accomplished.
