The city of Wenzhou, known for supplying Chinese customers with 90 per cent of high-quality bespoke business suits, recently unveiled a plan to become China’s “bespoke apparel capital” with global influence by 2035. According to CCTV+, a partner of TV BRICS, this strategic move aims to position Wenzhou as a leading hub for custom-made clothing worldwide.
The introduction of smart devices in garment workshops has revolutionized production processes in Wenzhou. Automated fabric cutting machines have significantly increased efficiency, allowing customers from all corners of the globe to benefit from this technology. Sizing information stored in QR codes enables quick and accurate ordering, streamlining the entire production process.
Digital technology has played a pivotal role in optimizing the production chain in Wenzhou’s garment industry. From design and pattern development to cutting, sewing, and ironing, every aspect of the manufacturing process has been enhanced through technological advancements. Additionally, the integration of artificial intelligence applications has further improved customer service and streamlined design and marketing strategies in the apparel sector.
With these technological innovations and strategic initiatives in place, Wenzhou is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming China’s “bespoke apparel capital” with global influence by 2035. Photo credit: iStock
