In Game 3 of the 2024 Men’s College World Series finals, the Tennessee Volunteers secured a 6-5 victory over Texas A&M to claim their first national title in program history. This win marked the Vols’ 60th victory of the season, completing an impressive run to the championship.

After falling 9-5 to Texas A&M in Game 1 of the series, Tennessee rallied back to win Game 2 by a score of 4-1, setting the stage for a decisive Game 3. The Vols took an early lead and managed to hold off the Aggies in a close contest. Dylan Dreiling’s standout performance in Game 3 earned him the title of Most Outstanding Player of the 2024 MCWS, as well as the distinction of being the first player to hit a home run in all three games of the finals.

The Vols built a solid lead of 6-1 in Game 3, with notable plays like Hunter Ensley’s impressive slide to avoid a tag. However, Texas A&M fought back, scoring four runs in the final two innings to narrow the gap to just one run. In the end, Tennessee’s closer Aaron Combs stepped up and struck out Ted Burton to secure the national title for the Volunteers.
