Hamilton Health Care System in Dalton, Georgia has announced its agreement to purchase the largest hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee for $160 million. This move is part of the nonprofit hospital’s plan to expand its services into Southeast Tennessee. The hospital being purchased is the 351-bed Tennova Healthcare Cleveland, along with its related medical offices and subsidiaries. These facilities are currently operated by Community Health Systems under the Tennova name. Community Health Systems has been operating the Cleveland hospital for nearly a decade.
Pending the necessary regulatory approvals, the sale of the hospital is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024. Hamilton Health Care System CEO Jeff Myers expressed the organization’s commitment to the well-being of the region and to keeping care local to the communities they serve. He highlighted the fact that Hamilton Health Care System is a not-for-profit entity and one of the few remaining independent health systems in the area. This acquisition represents a strategic move towards providing enhanced healthcare services to the residents of the region.
