On November 20, 2023, Austin Krajicek, a Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, achieved the prestigious No. 1 spot on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Doubles Rankings in the world. This remarkable achievement was made alongside his partner Ivan Dodig, who was ranked No. 2 in the world. Together, they secured a total of five tournament victories in 2023, with one of their highlights being the Grand Slam Title at the French Open at Roland Garros. This win came a year after they faced defeat in the championship match in Paris in 2022.

Throughout the year, Krajicek achieved an impressive 47-19 record in doubles, which allowed him to hold the No. 1 ranking for a total of 13 weeks, with the last 10 weeks consecutively. His stellar performance led him to amass 7,130 doubles points during the season, putting him 510 points ahead of his partner Dodig. Krajicek’s point total was also 740 points more than the pairing of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, who tied for third place. Notably, the difference between No. 1 and the next spot in the rankings was the largest since the final 2019 doubles rankings.

In addition to their Grand Slam victory, the duo of Krajicek and Dodig won all five titles at or above the ATP 500 levels. They also advanced to the 2023 U.S. Open Semifinals, further solidifying their dominance in the men’s doubles tennis circuit. Krajicek’s achievement of finishing the year as the world No. 1 in doubles also marked a historic moment for the Texas A&M Aggies, as he became the first Aggie to accomplish this feat.
