Texas defensive end Malcolm Simpson commits to Nebraska

Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers have successfully recruited their first prospect from Texas for the 2025 class. Malcolm Simpson, a strong side defensive end from Hitchcock, Texas, committed to the Big 10 program after his official visit over the weekend. Simpson turned down offers from Texas A&M, SMU, USC, and Houston to play for the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska wasted no time in pursuing Simpson, offering him a spot on the team just last month on May 20. Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton saw potential in the 6-foot-4, 250-pound player and made him a top priority for the Huskers. Simpson’s official visit solidified his decision to join the team.

In his last two seasons, Simpson showcased his skills in 17 games, recording 62 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. His impressive statistics caught the attention of Nebraska’s coaching staff, earning him a spot in the 2025 recruiting class.

Simpson becomes the 11th commitment in Nebraska’s 2025 class, joining other talented recruits such as four-star quarterback TJ Lateef, four-star running back Jamarion Parker, four-star defensive lineman Terry Tyson, and several other promising players. With Simpson’s addition, Nebraska’s recruiting class continues to grow stronger for the upcoming season.
