Back in 2022, Blane Cross was 14 years old when he was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This diagnosis was a life-changing moment for him. Chemotherapy knocked out his immune system, preventing him from being around people or mowing the lawn, which was devastating for Blane. Mowing was something he had loved since he was three years old, so not being able to do it anymore was a big loss.

Blane’s dad, Greg, recalled how Blane always wanted to be outside playing with his mower while Greg mowed the lawn. As he grew up, mowing became a source of peace and joy for Blane. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he missed it even more. After six months of chemotherapy, Blane is now in remission. He was granted a wish from Make-A-Wish North Texas and chose to start his own lawn care company instead of going on a vacation.

Blane was gifted everything he needed to start his company from Superscapes, and his family was there to support him. He saw this opportunity as a chance to start a career doing something he loved and was passionate about. Make-A-Wish was thrilled to see his wish come true and encouraged others to volunteer to make more dreams come true. Blane’s dream is to launch Cross Cuts in the near future and is grateful for the moment he is in now.

Blane reflected on the challenges of life but remained hopeful, saying that pushing through trials can lead to blessings and provisions in the end. His positive outlook and determination are inspiring, and he is excited to start his new venture in the lawn care industry.
