The 2023 TransPerfect Music City Bowl had a direct economic impact of $23 million on Nashville’s economy, according to bowl officials. The game, where Maryland defeated Auburn 31-13, took place on Dec. 30 at Nissan Stadium and drew an attendance of 50,088, making it the fourth-largest college football bowl game of 2023 outside of the College Football Playoff.
Scott Ramsey, President & CEO of the Music City Bowl, expressed his satisfaction with the positive economic impact of the event, attributing it to the support from fans, sponsors, and the community. He emphasized the bowl’s ongoing contribution to Nashville’s economy and expressed optimism for the future.
The all-time economic impact record for the Music City Bowl was set in 2021 when Purdue defeated Tennessee in a sold-out game. This game generated $32 million in economic impact with an attendance of 69,489.
In 2023, during the bowl festivities, a total of 24,363 room nights were occupied. Out-of-town attendees spent an average of $243 daily, while in-town attendees spent an average of $206 daily. Since its establishment in 1998, the Music City Bowl has contributed over $400 million in direct economic impact to Nashville’s economy.
