The 49ers Public Relations Team Receives Prestigious Rozelle Award

The Pro Football Writers of America has chosen the 49ers public relations staff as the recipient of the 2024 Pete Rozelle Award. This recognition is a testament to the team’s dedication to maintaining a high level of professionalism in their interactions with media personnel covering the club. It is the first time in the award’s 35-year history that the 49ers PR staff has earned this honor, making them the 11th different team to win in the past decade. (The Texans and Ravens shared the award in 2017).

Competing against other top NFL public relations staff, the 49ers were named the 2024 Pete Rozelle Award winners, beating out finalists from the Cowboys, Raiders, Rams, and Dolphins. This prestigious award is granted to the NFL club PR team that consistently upholds excellence in their media relations and interactions. Named after Pete Rozelle, NFL commissioner for nearly three decades and former sports PR professional, this award recognizes the hard work and dedication of public relations staff members throughout the league.

Throughout the 2023 season, the 49ers football communications staff, led by Corry Rush (VP of football communications), Peter Volmut (director of football communications), Kristin Wojcik (manager of football communications), and Zackary Teats (coordinator of football communications), demonstrated their commitment to providing reporters with access to key team personnel. The team’s efforts to facilitate interactions with head coach Kyle Shanahan, assistant coaches, players, General Manager John Lynch, and front office staff were crucial in earning them this accolade.

As a finalist for the second year in a row, the 49ers PR team, along with their colleagues Caleigh Elkin (football communications seasonal intern), Ellie Caple (director of communications and public affairs), Josh Stephens (senior manager of communications and public affairs), and Jacob Fill (senior coordinator of corporate communications), showcased their dedication to excellence in their interactions with the media. Congratulations to the 49ers PR staff on this well-deserved recognition.
