Designer Oscar Vinals has created a giant aircraft model named “Progress Eagle” that has the capacity to carry 800 passengers and stay in the air continuously. The plane is designed like a flying hotel, with a wingspan of 96 m and a length of 80 m, making it larger than the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747. An updated version called “One Flight” will feature multiple cabins instead of traditional rows of seats, offering luxury amenities such as restaurants, spas, cinemas, shops, and casinos for passengers to enjoy.
The cockpit of the aircraft is located on the second floor, allowing for a special observation deck to provide passengers with a panoramic view of the sky at 12,192 m. Seats will be scattered across the three floors, including tourist class, business class, and pilot class. Passengers purchasing pilot class tickets will have the unique opportunity to sit at the nose of the plane and admire the scenery during their flight.
An impressive feature of the aircraft is its use of hydrogen fuel cells for its six large engines, eliminating the need for fossil fuels and significantly reducing energy consumption. The roof and wings of the aircraft will be covered with photovoltaic batteries and a wind turbine to produce the necessary energy. The aircraft can remain in the air continuously by using a power supply based on satellites collecting solar energy.
While the design of the Progress Eagle is innovative and attractive, Oscar Vinals acknowledges that current technology only meets half of the requirements needed to bring this aircraft to life. He envisions this model as an evolution of his previous design, the Sky Whale, and believes it may not be produced until after 2030. Vinals has dreams of creating other large aircraft models, including the HSP Magnavem, a two-story nuclear passenger plane, and the Hyper Sting, a supersonic aircraft, although no organization has yet expressed interest in manufacturing and testing these designs.
