The Tesla Cybertruck is an electric car that looks better in real life than in pictures, but its design is very American and may not fit well on the roads of Finland. A new Tesla Center has been built in Petikko, Vantaa, where consumers can pick up their new Teslas and get them serviced. Media was invited to see the Cybertruck, part of Tesla’s Cyber Odyssey tour in Europe. The car is massive, standing almost two meters high with air springs raised to the highest position. It has a unique design that has divided opinions, with some seeing it as bold and futuristic and others comparing it to a refrigerator on wheels.

The Cybertruck features a stainless steel body, advanced technology, and innovative solutions. It is controlled electronically with steer-by-wire technology and has a minimalist interior with functions controlled through a large touch screen. The car is powerful, with a two-engine four-wheel-drive model boasting 600 horsepower. However, there have been quality issues reported with the initial production batches in the US, including rust appearing on the surface and aesthetic defects.

Driving the Cybertruck in Europe poses challenges due to its design and construction, such as thin stainless steel plates that may not meet EU regulations. The market for pick-up trucks of this size in Europe is small compared to the US, where two million pick-up trucks were sold in 2022. The Cybertruck is a vehicle made for American roads and markets, reflecting the American spirit and may not be easily understood by Europeans. Despite its impressive features, some of its design choices may seem more about uniqueness than practicality.
