Preparations are actively underway for the dispatch of the next “solidarity flotilla” from Turkey to the Gaza Strip. The flotilla consists of pro-Palestinian activists from various countries, including intellectuals, journalists, former politicians, doctors, former military officers, and lawyers. Participants come from countries such as Turkey, Cuba, South Africa, the USA, and more.
Among the organizers of the flotilla are individuals like 77-year-old Anne Wright, the daughter of Ernesto Che Guevara, Aleida Guevara, and the grandson of Nelson Mandela, Mandla Mandela. The flotilla’s launch has been delayed multiple times as Israel negotiates with Ankara to prevent its arrival.
The participants are carrying 5,500 tons of humanitarian aid, equivalent to 100 trucks. Plans are being discussed for the aid to be unloaded in Egypt before being delivered to Gaza. The flotilla includes three ships carrying aid and passengers, preparing for various interception scenarios.
Pro-Palestinian activists are anticipating challenges such as being stopped from sailing from Turkey or being intercepted and detained by the Israelis in international waters. The flotilla members are rehearsing their response to these scenarios to ensure they can deliver the humanitarian aid to Gaza successfully.
