Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps is reportedly set to leave the club and join French club Paris St-Germain on a free transfer. The 31-year-old had been in negotiations with United for a contract extension but has decided to move to PSG once her current contract expires this month.
Earps joined United from Wolfsburg in 2019 and signed an extension with the club in February 2021 that would have kept her at Old Trafford until June 2023, with the option for an additional year. However, it seems she has chosen to move on to a new challenge with PSG.
United finished fifth in the Women’s Super League this season, meaning they will not be competing in the Champions League next season. Earps played a key role in United’s recent success, including a clean sheet in their 4-0 win over Tottenham in the women’s FA Cup final last month.
Last September, Arsenal made a world record bid for Earps, highlighting her growing reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in the game. She was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2023 after her impressive performances for England in the World Cup, where they reached their first final, ultimately falling short to Spain.
Having also been part of England’s Euro 2022 triumph, Earps has established herself as a top goalkeeper on the international stage as well. With her move to PSG imminent, fans will be eager to see how she adapts to a new league and a new set of challenges.
