The Fallon Tribal Health Center introduces their new mobile medical clinic

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Health Clinic in rural Nevada to celebrate the opening of a new mobile clinic that will provide improved access to healthcare for about 2000 Native Americans in the area. Joy Schultz, an RN at the clinic, emphasized the importance of reaching patients where they are at, especially for those who cannot make it into the clinic.

The mobile clinic, a converted F550, offers a range of services including immunizations, lab testing, physician and nurse visits, wound care, and prescription medicine distribution. It was funded by a $672,950 emergency rural healthcare grant, with USDA Rural Development Undersecretary Basil Gooden attending the ribbon cutting to show support for the initiative.

The new mobile clinic will serve the Fallon Paiute Shoshone tribe, The Lovelock Paiute tribe, and the Yomba Shoshone tribe, covering approximately 200 miles of territory in total. This development is being hailed as a game changer for these communities, providing much-needed healthcare services to those who may have difficulty accessing traditional clinics.
