Members of the Public Fire Brigade (JVP) and DVD Mljet successfully extinguished a fire that broke out on Tuesday morning in the area of the Mljet National Park, as reported by the Croatian Fire Association (HVZ). The fire was spotted in an open space within the Mljet National Park at 5:44 a.m., affecting low vegetation and a small area of pine forest on challenging terrain.

A total of 12 firefighters from JVP Mljet and DVD Mljet, along with four fire trucks, were involved in responding to the fire. The firefighters were able to localize the fire by 6:40 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 7:30 a.m., according to the announcement by HVZ.

The prompt response and coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams helped prevent the fire from spreading further and causing more damage to the national park. The challenging terrain made the firefighting intervention more difficult, but the expertise and dedication of the firefighters led to a successful containment of the fire within a short period of time.

The Mljet National Park is a valuable natural reserve, known for its unique biodiversity and stunning landscapes. Preserving the park’s natural beauty and protecting it from wildfires is crucial in order to maintain its ecological balance and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
