The Florida Gators defense has been ranked as the No. 25 overall defense in EA Sports new College Football 25 video game, with a defensive power ranking of 84 overall. This places Florida in a tie with Texas A&M, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Louisville, North Carolina, and Kansas State. EA Sports explained that the offensive and defensive power rankings were determined by analyzing hundreds of thousands of data points, rosters, players, game film, and stats.

While the ranking may come as a surprise given Florida’s recent struggles, the team has been working to improve their defense. Last season, the Gators ranked 69th in total defense and 75th in scoring defense. The team’s worst stretch came during a five-game losing streak, which led to the firing of defensive coaches Sean Spencer and Corey Raymond.

To bolster their defense, Florida has been actively recruiting top-tier high school players and utilizing the transfer portal. They have added players like LJ McCray, Myles Graham, Aaron Chiles, Brien Taylor Jr., Joey Slackman, DJ Douglas, Grayson Howard, and Cormani McClain. In addition, the team made significant coaching changes by bringing in Gerald Chatman, Will Harris, and Ron Roberts to support their defensive efforts.

This is the second announcement involving the Gators in the new game, with Ben Hill Griffin Stadium being ranked as the 10th most difficult atmosphere. EA Sports’ College Football 25 will be available on July 19th.
