As voluntary team activities come to a close, mandatory activities are gearing up for the New York Giants. Their mandatory minicamp is scheduled for next week, and they are now preparing for the preseason matchups ahead. The NFL recently released the 2024 preseason schedule, revealing that the Giants will face the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and New York Jets.

The Giants will kick off their preseason by hosting the Detroit Lions on August 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET, followed by a game against the Houston Texans on August 17 at 1:00 p.m. ET. They will then face the New York Jets on August 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET, which is considered an away game despite both teams sharing a stadium.

Facing teams like the Lions and Texans, who have shown strength in past seasons, will give the Giants a good test of their abilities on the field. The rivalry between the Giants and Jets always makes for an intense matchup, regardless of whether it’s preseason, regular season, or postseason.

These preseason games will provide head coach Brian Daboll and his coaching staff with valuable insights into how their players perform against tough opponents. The goal of the preseason is not necessarily to win, but to evaluate which players are best suited to the team’s strategies and systems. The more experience players gain during preseason games, the better equipped the coaching staff will be to make final roster decisions.
