The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University is hosting a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Learning Group meeting today via Zoom, open to all members of the university community. The meeting will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. and will focus on sharing and discussing articles, current events, personal experiences, and professional experiences related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research.

The group aims to provide a safe space for individuals to expand their knowledge and skills in these areas, whether they are new to the topics or already established in the field. Today’s session will explore the impact of disinformation on equity and public health, using menthol cigarette bans as a case study.

Stephanie Pike-Moore, a sociobehavioral epidemiologist, research scientist, and adjunct professor in the department, will lead the discussion. She will provide a tool for participants to assess their susceptibility to misinformation and encourage them to reflect on the lasting effects on public health and trust.

To join the meeting, individuals can email Rebecca Miller at rdm124@case.edu to receive the Zoom link and be added to the calendar invite. This is a valuable opportunity for members of the university community to engage in discussions around diversity, equity, and inclusion in research.
