The Eiffel Tower in Paris is undergoing upgrades in preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Crews recently raised the Olympic rings onto the iconic tower with only 50 days left until the start of the games.

In an exciting development, there will be Olympic Games for video games. The International Olympic Committee has announced the creation of the “Olympic Esports Games,” an international competition that will focus solely on virtual sports and video games. This innovative move is aimed at keeping up with the digital revolution.

The plan for the Olympic Esports Games is expected to be approved at an upcoming meeting of IOC members in Paris. IOC president Thomas Bach expressed his enthusiasm for this new venture, stating that it represents a significant step forward for the committee.

The Esports Games will feature three different categories of video games, including virtual sports like e-cycling, sports simulation games, and traditional e-games. This new event will be a separate entity from the regular Olympic Games and will be overseen by a different team within the IOC.

While the announcement of the Olympic Esports Games is groundbreaking, it does not mean that video game competitions will be integrated into the traditional Olympic Games. Instead, the IOC clarified that these events will remain distinct entities with separate organizational and financial structures.

The IOC has been exploring the idea of Olympic Esports Games for some time now, and this recent announcement marks a significant step towards realizing this vision. The move is seen as a way to engage with younger audiences and adapt to the changing landscape of sports and entertainment.
