Employers had previously requested a mechanism to verify or challenge sick leave without a doctor’s signature due to concerns about employee misuse of sick days. As a result, the current mechanism for issuing sickness certificates from sources other than health insurance funds will be expanded, allowing employers to request verification if they believe a sick leave certificate is unreliable.
