The Kuwaiti National Assembly’s opening session is scheduled for next Sunday

The head of the Sunni session in the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Representative Saleh Ashour, announced that the opening session of the Council will be held on Sunday, April 21, despite a decree postponing the opening session until May 14. In a statement at the media center, Ashour explained that the decision was made to adhere to constitutional dates and in accordance with Article 87 of the Constitution.

About 37 representatives have confirmed their attendance at the opening session, following the constitutional dates. Ashour also outlined the procedures for assuming the position of President of the Senate until the completion of the procedures for electing the President of the Council in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution. He mentioned that the duties of presiding over the session were officially transferred to him after the oldest member apologized due to his candidacy for the position of Speaker of the Council.

Ashour clarified that the session scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, had been postponed to May 14, making it impossible to hold as planned. He emphasized the importance of following the constitutional dates and avoiding any suspicions regarding the opening session. Representatives welcomed the appointment of Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sabah as Prime Minister and urged him to focus on addressing the living concerns of citizens.
