The Latest iPad Calculator from Apple has a Handy Notes Feature

The tablets will come with iPadOS 18, which includes Apple Intelligence, a redesigned Photo app, new notes features, and new messaging functions. The new OS18 also introduces a calculator app to the iPad, a feature that the device has never had before. This app resembles the classic orange and white calculator seen on the iPhone but also features a new iPad-specific function called Math Notes, supporting the use of the Apple Pencil to write down math problems and solve them efficiently.

During Apple’s demo, it was clear that the new calculator app has many useful features. Users can utilize the whiteboard-like tool to solve algebraic equations, create graphs from text, and more with just a tap. Math Notes will seamlessly integrate into the preexisting Notes app, offering a history function to view past calculations and conversions for height, weight, and currencies. This launch not only addresses a much-awaited application for a larger screen but also enhances the overall iPad experience, potentially appealing to students and those in finance.

While these new features might increase the iPad’s appeal, it remains to be seen whether they will significantly impact sales. Currently, iPads account for only 6% of Apple’s total sales, significantly less than the iPhone, according to recent earnings reports. Critics argue that Apple’s efforts to catch up to other Big Tech companies in AI may fall short, especially when compared to OpenAI’s advancements like GPT-4o. However, despite these criticisms, analysts were impressed by Apple’s showcase of new technology at the conference, particularly Apple Intelligence, signaling the company’s commitment to AI innovation. Gene Munster, a managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, stated that Apple has successfully demonstrated its focus on AI technology.
