The Ride for Mental Health is currently seeking cyclists, volunteers, and sponsors for their upcoming fundraiser on June 22nd and 23rd in New Paltz, N.Y. The goal of the ride is to raise funds for mental health services, treatment, and education. The event is expected to draw over 500 cyclists, who will have the option to choose between 25, 50, and 100-mile courses. Those who wish to participate can register on the fundraiser’s website as a volunteer, an in-person or virtual rider, or make a donation to support the cause.
Additionally, there will be a “family fun ride” that is suitable for all ages and covers a 14-mile course. Virtual riders can take part remotely and raise funds online, while in-person riders will ride on fully supported road courses that meander through the countryside. Despite facing COVID-related cancellations during the pandemic, this fundraiser has been in operation since 2017. It has managed to raise over $1.2 million for mental health causes. In 2023 alone, the event saw the participation of 470 cyclists, 150 volunteers, and 1,600 donors, raising over $215,000 for McLean Hospital, renowned for its psychiatric treatment services.
