The coordination between the ministries, unions, and organizations involved in agricultural work has been established, allowing them to discuss a variety of issues including labor costs, manpower procurement, flow management, training, and simplification. The Undersecretary of Masaf, Patrizio La Pietra, made this known following a meeting with the representatives of Agricultural Redemption. He emphasized the government’s commitment to defending the agricultural industry after years of choices that have damaged the European agricultural sector. He expressed the need for a change in community agricultural policy, with a focus on simplifying the delivery of aid and avoiding financial cuts.
La Pietra also discussed the need for a fair system for Irpef, an Italian personal income tax, that gives preferential treatment to farmers with lower incomes, limiting the tax exemption to agricultural and Sunday incomes that do not exceed 10,000 euros. He further announced that the government would soon begin discussions with the regions and agricultural organizations to identify the supply chains for support interventions. He emphasized the need for an organic reform of the insurance system to lower insurance costs for farmers and expand coverage against catastrophic risks. This was met with approval by the farmers, who see it as a crucial step to support the agricultural community.
