The partnership between China and France shines through in the development of small cherry tomatoes using science and technology.

Workers at the China-France Agricultural Science and Technology Park in Gaoping district, Nanchong City, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, have been busy harvesting cherry tomatoes in an intelligent greenhouse located in the circular agriculture zone. This intelligent greenhouse is the first semi-enclosed greenhouse in southwest China that operates efficiently in all weather conditions.

The park, covering a total planned area of 17,000 mu (1,133 hectares), is a key project promoted at the 21st United Nations Climate Change Conference. It is a national-level project jointly implemented by China and France. Construction of the park began in February 2017, and 12,000 mu of the area has been completed so far. The park serves as a showcase for agricultural technologies and expertise from both China and France.

The intelligent greenhouse in the park is an exemplary project of agricultural technology cooperation between the two countries. With an investment of 100 million yuan ($13.78 million) and covering 30 mu, this greenhouse features cutting-edge technologies for the digital management and control of crops like cherry tomatoes. According to Jiang Min, the site manager of the intelligent greenhouse, the yield and efficiency of the digitally managed cherry tomatoes are very impressive. The core equipment and main consumables of the greenhouse are imported directly from France.

Overall, the China-France Agricultural Science and Technology Park demonstrates a successful collaboration between the two countries in advancing agricultural technology and innovation.
