The Plane that Crashed in Vrsar: Firefighters Express Concern Over Leaking Petrol and Fire Risk

An ultralight aircraft crashed in Vrsar on Sunday, prompting a report to the police at around 2:30 pm. According to Nataša Rogić from PU Istarska, one person suffered minor injuries in the incident. The competent Agency for the Investigation of Accidents in Air, Maritime, and Railway Traffic and the state attorney’s office were informed about the incident, which led to an investigation at the scene.

Unofficially, it was reported that the Wild Thing WT01 plane fell from a height of 30 to 50 meters, but the exact details will be determined after the investigation. In addition to the pilot, there was another passenger who sustained minor injuries. The Aviation Accident Investigation Agency mentioned that the circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation and that the incident occurred at the airport in Vrsar.

Following the report of the accident, firefighters from Poreč immediately headed to the crash site and arrived within ten minutes. The plane was not on fire, but there was a risk of it catching fire. In the fall, the plane’s wings broke and it began to leak gasoline. As a precaution, the firefighters poured foam over the plane and disconnected the battery, while also pumping out the remaining gasoline from the tank. The injured passenger was transported from the plane by ambulance.
