The new application Beta Digital Wallet aims to prevent minors from accessing online pornography, but it also presents risks as it uses users’ personal data which can lead to issues like theft, misuse of information, sextortion, and selling data on the black market. The Spanish Government plans to implement an age verification system to restrict children’s access to inappropriate content through a mobile app called Beta Digital Wallet. Users can register their age with an official document to access websites with pornographic content.

The app generates an anonymous credential to verify age and grant access to pornographic sites, ensuring anonymity to prevent tracking through consumer habits. The initiative aligns with the EU’s regulation on electronic identification, requiring age verification for digital platforms. However, critics like Xnet question the app’s effectiveness, highlighting concerns about data privacy, limitations to block only Spanish-based sites, and evasion through VPN systems.

Panda cybersecurity firm warns about potential data theft, security breaches, and user privacy concerns with the Beta Digital Wallet app. The company emphasizes the risks of creating a centralized database with sensitive information, exploitation by cybercriminals for sextortion or scams, and exposure to the dark web for unauthorized activities. Panda stresses the need for regular security audits, addressing vulnerabilities, and ensuring secure storage of information to prevent misuse by unauthorized parties. The app raises concerns about user privacy, cybersecurity, and potential data breaches if proper security measures are not in place.
