During today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox and Blizzard announced the release date for the next expansion to World of Warcraft: The War Within, set to launch on August 26 of this year. Blizzard unveiled a cinematic trailer that focused on Xal’atath, a void entity aiming to establish a new Black Empire with her at the helm, threatening Azeroth’s World Soul in the process.
Despite the lack of new expansion details in the trailer, we have already received a glimpse of the adventures awaiting players in Khaz Algar during the expansion preview. The expansion begins by disrupting a beloved in-game location, and game director Ion Hazzikostas has offered insights during a deep Q&A session. While Blizzard and Xbox are considering a paid early access period, player reactions have been mixed.
