At Walmart’s annual meeting in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Rob, Alice, and Jim Walton were in attendance. The three heirs of Walmart founder Sam Walton have seen a significant increase in their combined wealth this year, adding $53.7 billion to their fortunes. This surge in wealth has only been surpassed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index.

The Walton family’s fortune grew as Walmart’s stock price reached all-time highs. Jensen Huang, on the other hand, has more than doubled his net worth since January, adding over $62 billion. Mark Zuckerberg also saw significant growth in his individual wealth in 2024, but the combined gains of the Walmart heirs outpaced the Meta CEO.

Rob, Alice, Jim Walton, and their grandson Lukas have a combined wealth of over $293 billion, with the family controlling about 45% of Walmart’s shares. Despite their immense riches, they continue to maintain active roles in the company. Rob Walton, in particular, recently retired after more than 40 years on Walmart’s board of directors.

Lukas Walton, the youngest heir, is the wealthiest person in Illinois. He is known for his dedication to environmental causes and uses his wealth to work on various projects aimed at protecting the environment. The Walton family’s substantial wealth places them above other billionaires like Bernard Arnault, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk.
