The Whirlpool Foundation Continues its Commitment to Supporting the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWT)

Whirlpool Corporation is partnering with the Whirlpool Foundation to celebrate the second year of supporting the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWT) STEM event – Girls Rock IT. This initiative allowed local girls in grades 2-8 to explore the worlds of coding and app development. Elementary students used Scratch to learn coding, while middle schoolers created their own apps using MIT App Inventor, all in one day. Parents and guardians were also encouraged to participate, attending a session on Internet Safety and Careers in Technology to better support their daughters’ tech aspirations.

With a growing demand for tech talent and women still being underrepresented in the industry, Whirlpool Foundation is dedicated to showcasing inspiring role models from Whirlpool Corp. IT and assisting young girls in pursuing successful tech careers in Michigan.

Whirlpool Corporation, a leading kitchen and laundry appliance company, is committed to improving life at home and inspiring generations through its iconic brand portfolio, including Whirlpool, KitchenAid, JennAir, Maytag, Amana, Brastemp, Consul, and InSinkErator.
