Miofive has introduced what they believe to be the world’s first dash cam kit that includes two 4K cameras, one for recording the road ahead and the other for capturing what is behind you. In the past, we have reviewed many top front-and-rear dash cams, but most either offer a higher quality camera for the front or two cameras that are not 4K quality. Some may argue that 4K resolution is not necessary, however, having more detail can be crucial in case of an accident to determine guilt or the sequence of events.

The Miofive S1 Ultra features 8MP sensors in both cameras, which allows for 4K coverage at 30fps to ensure complete coverage. The front camera has a 140° angle of view, while the rear unit offers a 112° view of the road behind. Both cameras have a maximum aperture of f/1.8 and f/2, respectively. The front unit also includes a built-in GPS for recording your position and a 3-inch LCD IPS display.

By purchasing the optional hardwire kit for $30/£30, you can access 24-hour parking modes that use a G-Sensor to provide 1fps timelapse video or collision detection. The dash cam also features Bluetooth and dual-channel Wi-Fi, allowing you to control the device and view footage remotely on your Apple or Android phone. The kit comes with a 64GB MicroSD card, but you can upgrade to storage up to 512GB if needed.

The Miofive S1 Ultra is currently priced at $169.99/$199.99, with introductory coupons available on Amazon to save $30/£40. We look forward to testing the S1 Ultra and hope it lives up to the standard set by the earlier Miofive 4K Dash Cam.
