Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman BJ Thompson is currently recovering after experiencing a seizure and cardiac arrest during a team meeting. The 25-year-old was rushed to the hospital on Thursday following the incident. Rick Burkholder, the Chiefs’ vice president of sports medicine and performance, provided an update on Thompson’s condition, stating that he is “awake and responsive” and heading in the right direction.

The entire Chiefs organization, including players, security staff, coaches, and other staff members, responded quickly and effectively to the medical emergency. As a result, a scheduled practice session was cancelled, and head coach Andy Reid and players postponed media sessions until Friday to focus on Thompson’s well-being.

Thompson, who was drafted in the fifth round of last year’s NFL Draft, played in one game for the Super Bowl-winning team last season. He was also part of the Chiefs’ visit to the White House to celebrate their victory last week. Currently, the Chiefs are in their off-season training program and are set to begin a mandatory mini-camp on Tuesday.

The team is relieved that Thompson is recovering and receiving the necessary medical care. They are grateful for the quick response and support shown by everyone involved in handling the crisis. All focus is on Thompson’s health and well-being as he continues his recovery journey.
