Thunder Bay employee recognized as Hometown Health Hero with honorable mention | Local news, sports, job updates

The Michigan Public Health Week Partnership recently recognized Dan Oliver, Recovery and Addiction Services coordinator at Thunder Bay Community Health Service, as an honorable mention for the Hometown Health Hero award. Oliver was nominated for his efforts in advancing access to recovery and addiction services in northern Michigan communities.

Dr. Richard Bates, CEO of Thunder Bay Community Health Service, emphasized the importance of availability of recovery and addiction services and education in communities. Bates praised Oliver for his leadership in responding to needs and collaborating with other agencies to increase access and reduce stigma surrounding substance use disorders.

The Hometown Health Hero award, now in its 20th year, is given to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to improving community health. Awardees are selected based on nominations received.

Thunder Bay Community Health Service is committed to being a community partner for well-being and Dan Oliver’s recognition highlights the organization’s dedication to addressing the needs of individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
