Gboard, the keyboard of Google that is integrated into all Android smartphones, is getting new features based on generative artificial intelligence. This writing software offers a variety of options to help users write more comfortably, save time, and correct mistakes in real time. One of the new functionalities allows users to examine their text and restructure it for a more concise alternative, providing the ability to activate this feature at their discretion. In addition to spell checking, Gboard will also identify and correct grammatical errors.

Another added feature is the option to dictate messages or responses using voice input, which can be especially useful for saving time or when circumstances make typing difficult. Users can enable voice input by selecting the microphone option on the keyboard and speaking their message, adding punctuation verbally as needed. This feature is available across all apps that use the mobile keyboard.

The clipboard function in Gboard stores all copied text and allows users to retrieve and reuse them without having to recopy. Users can choose to display recently copied texts, screenshots, or other information in the suggestion bar by customizing the settings. Custom emojis are also a fun feature that allows users to combine two emojis into a sticker to send in messages.

For easier typing, Gboard offers the ability to use the keyboard on a larger screen by turning the phone horizontally, as well as a one-handed mode that makes the keyboard smaller for typing with one hand. To activate one-handed mode, users can long press on the emoji key and select the appropriate option from the pop-up menu. The keyboard can then be sent to either side of the screen and returned to normal size as needed.
